Since the new year, everything seems to have moved both fast and slow. January and February were long and cold months. We spent them mostly hibernating (and incubating, haha!). We got our big baby surprise right after the new year so we had to postpone our traveling plans. The majority of the time I was disgusted with nausea anyway, so nothing would have been enjoyable.
March came-and was still freezing by the way-and we visited a few places around Germany and Austria, but didn’t veer too far. We spent a week in Garmisch, Austria for David’s work, but I was still feeling a little queasy and extremely fatigued. Once again we missed out on doing anything really worth noting, but we did go out on small stretches to explore the town and surrounding areas.
April was much better! David’s job brought an opportunity to go to Italy for a month and the drive alone through the northern Veneto regions were some of the most beautiful and breathtaking views I’ve ever seen in my life. We were both in just complete awe through the entire voyage. I didn’t get many pictures because we had an emergency right in the middle of all the fascination (ugh). While there, my appetite started to make its appearance again and I was so thankful to eat a little more. Especially all the breads and pastas and pastries! We got to visit Lago di Garda, explore Verona, Vicenza, Padua, and Venice. Towards the end I started to really feel better and stronger, but just when that happened we were hit with a cold front and storms galore *major eye roll.* Nevertheless, it was amazing and we had a blast. It was so sad when it was time to come back to Ansbach.
Getting back to our house was a relief though. I could finally move and cook and eat so much more than before so I was ready to get into nesting phase… which is where I currently am. May has been the spring cleaning month for me, and even more so because we finally have good weather here in Germany. Can you believe the week before we got back (the last week of April) it snowed?! Half of May was spent with the heaters on, and anytime we went anywhere we still had to wear sweaters and boots and jackets! It’s finally warming up and I couldn’t be more glad. I never thought I’d miss Texas heat, but wow. I am thrown, haha
We have another trip coming up in July to the western side of Germany for David’s work again so hopefully we can get to visit a little bit of France. I will be well into my third trimester so we will see just how well and mobile I will feel. It’ll be an adventure… and if there’s anything I love, it’s an adventure!
