Life Lately (April 2018)

So April has been a crazy month. David has started traveling back to the states for work… that means Lucas and I are left to survive just the two of us. I know this doesn’t seem like a big deal for most people, but with my bipolar depression it sure feels extra challenging (I will talk about that later). I’m not complaining though. I try to take it in stride and enjoy every moment with my bear. Even the frustrating parts! This month we took a vacation to a few spots. Prague, Vienna, and Hallstatt were just what the doctor ordered. With Lucas getting older, and the weather getting warmer, we figured it’s time to take advantage and start crossing off places on our bucket list. I do have to say that little bear is an absolutely wonderful traveling baby. He loves to sightsee and be out and about. He has admirers everywhere we go and he sure does love to flirt! His favorite are the little old ladies, haha! It makes for fun trips full of laughs. Nonetheless, vacationing with a baby is far from easy.

We’ve only just started our family trips and have 2 under the belt, but I think we still have yet to find our groove. Lucas is somewhat of an easy baby; he only fusses or cries when he is hungry, dirty, or sleepy. He rarely gets sick, and when he’s tired he is pretty good about just dozing off. Mind you, he has to be very tired! As of late, he has gotten a little more fussy than usual. I think it just may be growth, but it is exhausting. This makes for extra tiring walks, stops, and sightseeing. One day he will be a breeze, the next is non stop whining. There really isn’t a way to tell what’s wrong, but we just chalk it up to growing pains, teething, and frustration with trying to move around on his own.

On another note, next time we will have to plan longer trips. We ended up spending a total of about three days in each spot, and i’ll tell you what, it is NOT enough. Especially with a baby! While we got to see a lot of incredible things, we didn’t get to see everything we wanted. Other things had to be cut short. In Hallstatt we lost an entire day to rain. Talk about a bummer, because it was the most picturesque… at least nature-wise. Anyway, I love history and I love art. By no means am I an art expert, but I certainly know what I like, and I can certainly appreciate the significance and history behind the pieces that I wanted to see. Both David and I were fan-girling! I didn’t get as many pictures as I would have liked, we were just too busy taking it all in.

Here’s to hoping we get to go back with a more manageable-aged child! hahaha 🙂
